Introduction
This policy explains what the TNM Cancer Staging app collects, why, and what control you have over it. We collect as little as the app needs to work. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Scope
This policy covers the mobile app and the services that support it. It does not cover:
- Third-party websites or services you open from links inside the app, such as PubMed
- The Apple App Store and Google Play, which process purchases under their own policies
- Your employer's or institution's systems
What we collect
- Account details — your email address and display name when you create an account
- Usage data — which screens and features are used, so we can improve the app. This is aggregated and is not used to build a profile of you
- Device data — device type, operating system and app version, for diagnostics and to deliver notifications you have opted into
- Saved items — favourites and preferences, so they follow you across devices
What we do not collect
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
How we use your information
- To provide the app and keep you signed in across devices
- To send content updates and educational notifications, if you have allowed them
- To diagnose faults and improve reliability
- To respond to your support requests
Content updates
Reference content in the app is written and reviewed by our clinical team. We use software tooling to help draft and cross-check that content, and a clinician reviews it before it is published to the app. Updates are delivered over the internet, so content can change without you reinstalling. This process uses no personal data.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store a delivery token for your device so we can send content updates and educational prompts. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings. Tokens are removed once they stop being valid.
Data storage and security
Data is stored with established cloud infrastructure providers, encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is limited to the people who need it to operate the service.
Most reference content is stored on your device so the app works offline. That local copy stays on your device and is removed when you uninstall.
Your rights
You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct it if it is wrong
- Delete your account and its data, from within the app under Settings
- Withdraw consent for notifications or analytics at any time

Children
The app is intended for healthcare professionals and students. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
